Funny kids today

Today I was telling Elise about everybody who was going to be at her birthday party I listed off all of the guests that I knew of that were coming. She thought for a second and said " OH NO MOMMY! LET GABRIEL COME TOO!" lol Sweet girl cause when I was a kid I didn't want my brother at my parties.
I put Gabriel on the floor after feeding him and as he crawled away he said " bye bye bye bye" lol
Also today I was looking at pictures of my friends little girls birthday party this little girl just turned 1. Gabriel was sitting next to me and saw pictures of Avery and got all excited and started grabbing at the screen and clapping. Isn't 9 months a little early to start having crushes on girls?

4 years old

Elise will be turning 4 on Monday. So we have had a few discussion about what she wants for her birthday. She has said many entertaining things. Including " I want to be 4 for my birthday" and "I want a marching band for my birthday" She also just told me she wanted " a punzle dress, a punzle and a man" when I asked her what man she wanted  she said " his name is flynn ryder" lol She told my mom she wanted "birthday earrings" for her birthday which is code for birthstone earrings.
In other news yesterday I caught Gabriel who had somehow gotten the lid off of a screw bottle of lotion and by the time I had caught him he had smeared the lotion all over his legs, his rear end, and the floor. When I said " little boy what do you think you are doing!?" he produced and enormous grin and started clapping like he was proud of himself. This little boy just started crawling this past week and this is the result this is a bad omen. lol

In the top 2 scariest moments of my life

Yesterday I was at my parents house with the kids and we all were swimming in the pool. Gabriel apparently thought this wet stuff he was in was most interesting and he leaned forward in his baby floaty to examine the water more closely. This caused him to fall face first in the water and I just saw a baby speedo and fat little legs sticking up out of his floaty... then they started to go under I flew across the 2 feet between us and snatched up the baby out of the water prepared to smack him on the back or whatever to accomplish breathing. While he didn't have the sense to stay in his floaty he did have the sense to hold his breath and didn't even cry or anything. When I pulled him up out of the water he just had a look like " well that was interesting" later he attempted his dive again but I was holding on to him so he had no success. The whole under water experience lasted my dad said about 5 seconds but to me in " omg my baby is about to drown land" it seemed like forever. I also had the crazy dont let baby drown mommy adrenaline that kicked in so that might be why it lasted forever. This kids is fearless I'm gunna have to watch him like a hawk so he doesn't commit babycide on accident. This experience is easily in the top 2 scariest experiences of my life the other being when I was rear ended with Elise in the car as a baby and she started screaming when we were hit. Elise tends to be more wary of stuff than Gabriel this kid is fearless, which means mommy's fear is at an all time high. *shudder*

Is it the 19th century?

So I have been really tired and on and off sick for bout 6 weeks. I have been to the doctor 4 times in this time. I have had I think 3 different courses of antibiotic. I was told I had strep once. Then this past Thursday the fever was getting ridiculous. It was going up every night and I was up to 103.8 when my mother finally decided to take me in again ( I had finished taking my latest antibiotic the night before) when I got there my temp was up to 104. The nurse practitioner I saw Thursday took one look at me and said I had a bad case of Strep and that it was on its way to rheumatic fever. She gave me tons of tylenol and ibprophin to bring my fever down and a shot of penicillin and a prescription for double dose of antibiotic. She said she had had it 5 times that year and saw it every day all day long constantly. Her sister had died of it 4 years ago. A 20 year old had died of strep 2 weeks prior and several 17 year olds had died of it over the winter months. Now my thought it OH MY GOSH! Is it 1800?! I made my husband go to the doctor who felt fine and just had a few random symptoms like achenes. He had a bad case and also had to get the same treatment as me. Apparently families are passing it around between them and not getting the doses of antibiotics that are needed. If strep goes untreated it can cause heart murmurs, kidney and liver failure, brain damage and death. So take this seriously. I just felt the need to get this out there so other people know what to expect unlike me.

Sally

The other day we were in Wal-Mart and Elise, as usual had to pee. As we were walking into the bathroom another little girl about 7 or 8 went in ahead of us and this is what happened next
Elise: Mommy, let me say hi to her!
Me: Ok Elise if you must.
Elise: Hi little girl! Whats your name?
Little Girl: *silence*
Me: Elise not everybody wants to talk to you.
We then go in the stall and I tell her to just use the potty and then we can go out.
Elise: Mommy what is that little girls name?
Me; I dont know Elise
Elise: Hmm Maybe its Sally.
Me: Ya maybe it is.
Elise: Mommy, Sally is peeing too.
Me: Yes, Elise that's what people do in the bathroom.
We finish the stall business and go out to wash our hands we go to the middle sink the shortest one of the end doesn't work and hasn't for a long time. The little girl goes to the end sink
Elise: Silly Sally! That sink doesn't work! Come to this one over here * points at the sink next to us*
So then Sally rushes out of the bathroom not having said a word the whole time, and looking freaked out. That's what Sally gets for not talking to Elise. lol

Blessing

On Sunday Gabriel was blessed. His daddy did the blessing and was assisted by Gerald Fitzgerald, Robbie Laypath and of course Paw Paw. It was such an awesome blessing. Gabriel didnt make a peep except for soft little singing which nobody but the people doing the blessing could hear. He was blessed to grow in the church and learn, to be a humble person and do well in school so he can support his family, find a wife and marry her in the temple and have lots of children. He was also blessed to teach his children "about the church , the things I am trying to teach you" It was soo sweet. I nearly cried several times. It kinda made up for blacking out when Gabriel was born and missing Josh's reaction cause I definatly saw a reaction from him while he was giving Gabriel his blessing.
Gabriel looked like a little angle in his white outfit chewing on the collar. I know why they call it a blessing. A blessing for our little blessing.

stress?

Yesterday while everyone was at work I had Elise in the tub, and Gabriel had poo'd up his back and was screaming, then Elise started screaming about how the water was to cold in the bathtub. All of this while I was trying to wash clothes. So that is a pretty stressful situation of course but after further review and pondering it occurred to me that I would rather be doing that than any other form of work. What else is going to be more fulfilling? So, ya, while its gross to be up to your elbows ( and in Gabriel's case neck) in dirty diapers there is nothing else I'd rather be doing. How lucky I am.

Our trek

So last Thursday my mother, myself and my kids packed up the car and headed to Franklin Tennessee. Little did we know there would be a blizzard with which to contend. From Birmingham to when we finally stopped in a little town called Cullman Alabama we passed 17 wrecks and then saw the result of 3 more the following morning. A lot of people would have been pretty irate I guess but my new goal is to try and be more positive. So at least we weren't in any of those wrecks, and while Gabriel screamed from Birmingham till when we stopped at least Elise was good. Other things to be grateful for are the facts that we could find a place to stay and had the money to pay for a place to stay and didn't have to stay in the car and freeze. Everyone wants to go on vacation to Cullman Alabama. lol
We got there and stayed with my cousin Kari and her mother, my aunt Nancy. While we were there Kari made some hair bows for Elise , we went to Kari's son, Chase's basketball game. His team is called the Celtics but Elise kept hollering " GO SEPTICS!" Which was pretty entertaining. They also won which was fun for us as well. Gabriel was fascinated by the game and didnt take his eye of the ball the whole game. He might be athletic. We went to see the movie Megamind which I had already seen but my mom hadn't Gabriel watched the whole thing as well. And we went to church Sunday Elise went strait to primary no problem and wasn't the slightest bit concerned with the fact she had never seen these people before in her life. We watched the Super Bowl in Kari's theater room on the 10 ft screen which was pretty awesome especially since the team I was pulling for won. On the way home Gabriel screamed from Meridian all the way home. Didn't even take a break. He is the most stubborn baby ever. He wins the " most stubborn", and "loudest' award. He never gave up and just went to sleep. But at least Elise was happy. This is about all for now so hopefully I will write more often. Need to get in the habit.
